This week we welcome Fr Roy Karakkattu from Kerala, India, to the parish as our new assistant priest. Here he has written a few words about himself:
“I was born in Kerala, one of the tiny states in India. We are seven in the family and basically engage ourselves in agriculture. After the matriculation, I joined the congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales (MSFS). I had my Philosophical studies in Suvidya College, Bangalore and Bachelor degree under Bangalore University. My next destination was Pune to commence my Masters in Philosophy and later Theological studies. I was ordained a priest in the year 2005. As a priest, I worked among the tribals of North East India for six years, mainly in Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya. In 2011, I was appointed to Suvidya College, one of our Formation houses in Bangalore to teach philosophy and train the young seminarians. Having served for three years there, I have come to England to do Doctoral studies now.
I am fortunate and really blessed to be in St. Joseph Church to assist Canon Seamus Keenan. I want to thank all the members of the parish for the warm welcome and the hospitality extended to me. In the first place, let me express my heart felt gratitude to Canon Seamus for the brotherly way he has been guiding and supporting me. I was really overwhelmed by the cordial welcome given to me by all the members of this wonderful community. I assure you all my prayers and humble service. God bless everyone.”
